Finding the perfect moisturizer is tricky, especially with so many brands and products out there with their marketing schemes. It’s hard to know what is perfect for your skin unless you try all of them!
I have combination skin – oily t-zone with the rest of my face being super dry… in the summer, I just get oilier.
I did some research by reading other beauty guru’s blogs, youtube channels, product review etc but it’s still questionable until I try it myself.
Right now, I use Neutrogena’s Oil-Free Moisturizer in the morning and at night, Shiseido’s Benefiance Revitalizing Emulsion. In the morning, I prefer something light whereas at night, I love creamy and rich moisturizers that feels like I’m getting all the moisture I need on my skin. However, i find that maybe the Shiseido’s product is too much for me as I wake up and my t-zone is super shiny. The morning moisturizer is not moisturizing enough for my cheeks (dry area) and I often need to double up. Hence why I’m looking for something different!!
New products I’m trying out now:
(I will do a review for each product separately as I use them)
Clinique Dramatically Different Gel
Lush Imperialis Facial Moisturizer
Origins Make a Difference Ultra-Rich Rejuvenating Cream
If you have a great moisturizer for day & night, give me some recommendations!!

My sister and I both have combination skin, but hers is more oily/combo and mine is more dry/combo. Olay’s classic face cream for sensitive skin (comes in a jar, green and white packaging) is working well for her, while I’ve found that Marcelle’s Hydra-C moisturizing cream worked well – not the 24H one, but the regular one, which was non-comedogenic. I’m checking online now, but I don’t know if they are still available… The Clinique one you are using should work pretty well, I have the lotion as opposed to the gel. For the winter, I don’t find it hydrating enough though.
Thanks for your suggestion! I used the Clinique’s gel this weekend and it’s not moisturizing enough sadly! I was drying up by the time I was putting my makeup on… I asked about the lotion but I heard that there’s an ingredient in there that clogs pores (according to the skincare person from sephora). I’m hoping the other ones are better suited for my skin! I may try Marcelle’s Hydra C cream you told me about!
Clinque’s gel is formulated for oily skin, as opposed to their lotion which is formulated for dry skin. If you can return it, you should see if the lotion is better for you. Marcelle is sold at Loblaws and SDM, whose return policies obviously aren’t as good as Sephora’s. Good luck!
Thanks so much! :)
I used to use Nivea Young Moisturiser but I think they have discontinued the line now. So I’m on the look out for a new one now, and preferably cheap, it will be interesting to see which one you think is best!
I’ve been trying DDF oil-free (non-SPF) and it seems to be working for my skin…
The Clinique one was too dry for me.
I agree… the Clinique is too dry!!
