Closet Staple: The Leather Jacket

To me, a leather jacket is a MUST-HAVE in a any closet.  Why? Because a leather jacket can be worn every season, such as over a cute dress in spring/summer or by layering sweaters and shirts under it in the fall/winter.  Leather jackets are so versatile and there’s so many different ways to wear it and show off your personal style!

If you’re in the market looking for a leather jacket, first ask yourself: how often you’d like to wear the jacket; if it’s going to be a statement piece or an everyday piece; do you want it to look super edgy; do you want a cropped or hip length.

  • If you want a simple but edgy jacket that you want to wear throughout the season, invest in a great ‘Everyday Black Jacket’
  • If you want it to be the focus of your outfit but still looking for versatility, check out the ‘Colored Leather Jackets’
  • Are you looking to make a statement? You should get a ‘Studded & Embellished Jacket’

      • The above comment is creroct, the pockets on most suit jackets will be sewn shut, and can be opened easily by a tailor or yourself if you are very careful the stitched used to bind the pocket are usually quite easy to spot. Generally the manufacturer will not sew up the entire pocket, but leave a small gap on one or both sides to help you get started and to show you that the pocket is in fact there (you can put your finger in the hole and feel the lining). This is generally done because if the pockets are constantly used the lines of the suit will become less sharp, so they give you the option of preserving those lines or opening the pocket and using them (it also stops people destroying those lines before the suit has even been sold by shoving their hands in them). +2Was this answer helpful?

    • I’m glad that you return to bgiolgng, you have such a lovely blog, I enjoy your style and seeing your thrifted finds. Lovely outfit, I like the bright orange sweater and the red tights, great accents. The subtle necklace is just lovely. And I adore your shoes. Deep down inside me I like an eclectic, bold and quirky style, that’s why I like your blog, I just don’t think I can carry it as well as you. mongsmythriftycloset.blogspot.com
