Review: Lush Imperialis Facial Moisturizer

I have always been scared to go into the LUSH stores because their intense scents intimidated me (I am very sensitive to strong scents).  However, when I went in the staff was super helpful, knowledgeable and the soap smells were not too bad.

A friend of mine swears by LUSH and suggested that I try this stuff out (we have similar skin types). I started using this moisturizer in my morning regimen.

The texture is light and slightly runny but still has some creamy consistency.  It applies easily, spreads well and absorbs into the skin really fast.  It doesn’t leave a greasy feeling afterwards which is nice.

On the product’s web page, it claims that it is the imperial and majestic moisturizer for combination skin. However, these days I feel that my skin is getting drier as using this left my forehead peeling after I applied foundation…

This lotion is infused with lavender, which balances the sebum production of the skin.  This means that your oily t-zone won’t produce excess oil and your dry areas will produce more oil to keep a fair balance between the two. I would recommend this for those who have combination oily to oily skin.

At 1.5oz, this product is $23.95 CAD – which is pretty much mid range compared to other products.  Yes, it’s more than what you’ll find at a drug store but I’ve used a lot of moisturizers before and this one’s worth the $.

Also, if you want to try this but don’t want to buy the whole thing without knowing what it’ll be like on your skin, ask for a sample at the store! They’re very helpful and will give you a small container of the stuff that will last you a few days!

Moisturizer for Combination Skin

Finding the perfect moisturizer is tricky, especially with so many brands and products out there with their marketing schemes.  It’s hard to know what is perfect for your skin unless you try all of them!

I have combination skin – oily t-zone with the rest of my face being super dry… in the summer, I just get oilier.

I did some research by reading other beauty guru’s blogs, youtube channels, product review etc but it’s still questionable until I try it myself.

Right now, I use Neutrogena’s Oil-Free Moisturizer in the morning and at night, Shiseido’s Benefiance Revitalizing Emulsion.  In the morning, I prefer something light whereas at night, I love creamy and rich moisturizers that feels like I’m getting all the moisture I need on my skin.  However, i find that maybe the Shiseido’s product is too much for me as I wake up and my t-zone is super shiny. The morning moisturizer is not moisturizing enough for my cheeks (dry area) and I often need to double up. Hence why I’m looking for something different!!
